Abstract

Lucan’s BellumCivile and a significant amount of glosses and scholia to the poem. These materials can be ascribed to the activity of two different scholiasts: while the first one’s commentary is an interesting jumble of basic notes and different exegetical materials, the notes of the second rely almost exclusively on Benvenutoda Imola’s recollecte, even if this source is sometimes abridged and reworked. These conclusions confirm Violetta de Angelis’ intuition about the manuscript and add some new elements to the history of Benvenuto’s text.
