The text and transmission of some Bedan works

Abstract

Four texts connected with Bede have been newly edited by C. Grocock and I. N. Wood: his Homily on Benedict Biscop, his History of the Abbots, and his Letter to BishopEcgbert, together with the anonymous Life of Ceolfrith. This article, on the basis of the manuscript evidence presented by Grocock and Wood, seeks to revise their view of the relationship of the manuscripts that transmit each of these works. Some new conjectures and interpretations are put forward.
